Institute of Criminology was the term used in the original story. I don't know if it's an actual place but I assumed it was. I basically wrote the blunt facts only as the rest of it was difficult to edit accurately. Just the basic overview of events is posted here. |

When the murderer (asshole #1)  was asked to provide a sample of his DNA, he persuaded another crackhead (asshole #2)  to submit a DNA sample in his place for 50 Reais (about 22,00$). When the sample was analyzed at National Criminalistic Institute (that's the central crime lab for Brazil's Federal Police), turned out to belong to asshole #2, whose DNA was already in the database. So asshole #1 was locked in a cell, forced to provide a DNA sample, and the results of the analysis this time nailed him for good, as it was matching the semen found on (and inside) the woman's body. |

My consideration is that; you guys have like three or four institutes, in America there's like fourteen DNA/analysis institutes, if they have one in Brazil now, I feel quite redundant :)
