An elderly farming couple - 64-year-old Rahman Nur and 62-year-old Siti Hajar - were found mutilated in their bedroom by their grandson, Restu, after he returned home from a brief errand. Police suspected the killings were linked to an attempted burglary, as a cupboard in the house was found in disarray.

Restu had invited a friend, H.K., to spend the night at the house. While Restu left to retrieve a phone charger from another friend's home, police believe that H. apparently went to the cupboard to steal valuables. When he was caught, he got out a machete and murdered the couple.

Upon returning with a friend, Restu discovered H. in an outdoor bathroom attempting to wash bloodstains from a hoodie he was wearing. H. fled immediately, and Restu and his friend were unable to catch him. However, whilst fleeing, his motorcycle stalled due to a lack of fuel, and wary residents alerted local authorities. H. was arrested.

H (17), was reportedly reported missing by his own family. H's father has been actively searching for his son on social media for the past few days. In a circulating post, the father asked for the public's help in telling H. to return home immediately.

H. was said to have been away from home for three nights and was known to have stayed overnight at the home of a friend. This situation made it difficult for the family to contact H. because the teenager reportedly did not have a cell phone.

Because H. is 17 years old, the Sumbawa Police are processing his case under Law No. 11 of 2012 concerning the Juvenile Criminal Justice System.

Investigation wilbe determining whether H. brought the machete with him or found it inside the house.

Confirming if robbery was the sole motive, given the ransacked wardrobes.

The maximum sentence that can be imposed on a child offender is exactly half of the maximum sentence designated for an adult committing the same crime. Capital punishment and life sentences cannot be applied to minors.

The law dictates that the absolute maximum sentence a juvenile can receive is 10 years in prison.

His sentence must be serve at a Special Child Placement Center focused on education, counseling and rehabilitation.
