To the people questioning the wisdom of not having the child buckled in, I believe you missed the part of the narrative wherein it is established that seizures were happening. The medical professionals the parents had likely already spoken to would've instructed them to place the girl on her side on a soft surface and constantly check her airway. Now, what is the best way to follow that advice in a car? Gently resting the child on her side in the lap while performing frequent sweeps of the airway, perhaos?

[YES] & hear we are! Dead mother too-not sick & NO SEAT BELT EITHER. Fine, provide comfort for the child but what's the DEAD, EJECTED mother's excuse?

So sad. As a mom who has rushed her child to the ER with said child on my lap TWICE, I can see how you wouldn’t put the kid in a car seat in an emergency situation like this. It’s still sad.
