Yea this machine is called a lathe and is usually used for shaping wood or metal eg. a baseball bat or bed post. I don't have the story but I can tell he was pulled into the machine through entanglement via his clothing.

I watched a kid get caught up in a lathe in 10th grade, he wasnt hurt too bad, but his shirt got caught and pulled him in just enough to where the chuck was thumping on his shoulder...I was right there but it happened so fast, and I freaked and turned away cuz it looked like it was about to get bloody. There is even an emergency break right at their feet, but panic makes ya forget I guess..
