In Alameda Trinca-ferro, at around 11.50pm on 5th March 2018, 30 year old Elizabeth Diniz Rocha Alves was murdered.

2 men had broken into her home. She shouted to her 6 year old son to run away so he wouldn't get hurt. He sought protection at a neighbour's house. The neighbour, who did not want to be identified, pulled the little boy into her house + locked the door, scared that the killers would come. She spoke of how traumatised the little boy was + despite his young age, he wanted revenge. The neighbour stated, "The child became very agitated. He cried a lot + was even with a knife in his hand repeating that he would kill the men who killed his mother."

Elizabeth was executed with 11 blows with a barbecue skewer + gunshots, all in the region of the neck. There was also a wound to her chest.

Police found Elizabeth dead in a pool of blood, in the 2 roomed shed where she lived with her son. Elizabeth had only lived there for 3 months. She also has 2 daughters who were staying with their godmother.

Elizabeth's husband, Walmir Donizzeti da Silva Júnior, is in jail for drug trafficking. He has a long criminal record for armed robbery, conspiracy, trafficking + drug use, among other crimes. Elizabeth had no criminal record.
