Philippine caskets almost always have glass on them (fully open casket funerals are rare). Tropical weather can decompose bodies rather quickly, and also to lock odor inside and prevent flies from entering the body.
I noticed quite a lot of Hispanic countries do this as well, such as Mexico for example. I often wondered if it was also to keep family members from messing up the embalmer's work.

Sometimes I wish this was a thing here in the states bc I get family or friends smudging makeup or messing up the decedent's pose quite often. Then they'll find me and want me to work on the body in front of dozens of spectators.
