The body of Juliet Mercader, 26, was recovered from a shallow burial site behind a sugarcane field in Barangay San Miguel, La Carlota City, ****** Occidental, Philippines, on September 30, 2020. She had suffered two gunshots to the head, and police determined that the slaying occurred somewhere else before her burial. Her husband, Jinnefer Mercader, was killed by police two days before at a gamefowl farm in Murcia. A former barangay captain from Borbon, Cebu, he was described by police as a drug kingpin and self-confessed gun-for-hire who escaped jail in 2019. Investigators connected her killing with the drug trade surrounding him.

Just to correct some errors: She was found dead on September 30, 2020, not October 2, 2020. Her husband, 44-year-old drug personality J.M., also from Borbon, Cebu, was shot to death in a police operation on September 28, 2020 in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia.

I was able to find an English-language post. So, no need to translate for this one, though the term shabu is a Filipino slang term for methamphetamine.

The Regional Intelligence Division of PRO6 (RID6) was monitoring J.M. because he was linked to other drug activities in the region. “He is armed and dangerous.” Pamuspusan said.

According to reports, J.M. escaped from Medellin District Jail in Cebu last March 5, 2020. He was a former barangay captain of Barangay Lugo in Borbon town in northern Cebu who was caught for illegal possession of illegal drugs and loose firearms two years prior his escape. J.M. is also a self-confessed killer who admitted the killing Police Lieutanant Colonel J.Y., a police officer in Cebu.
Meanwhile, RID6 confirmed that J.M. was linked to several drug activities and was able to evade operatives in the buy-bust operation on August 27, 2020 at Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City but a case was filed against him for violation of RA 9165 (Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002). Since then, intelligence monitoring was intensified to locate him.
“This is an output of intelligence work” Pamuspusan said as he congratulates the personnel who successfully carried out the manhunt operations. In an earlier statement, RD Pamuspusan said that PRO6 is after High Value Individual or listed drug personalities as one of the priorities under the Chief, PNP’s 9-Point Agenda.
