No, he was only arrested for obscenity charges (same thing Chris, this sites owner, was nailed for with NTFU.com actually). There were 6 actual animal deaths in the films but this only lead to it being banned in a lot of areas. If I remeber correctly from film class in my university days, I don't think much came out of it all in terms of legal action against the director.
