Hmmm...two thankless jobs. Customers are more compliant and less attitude in funeral biz, but they smell bad in both jobs. I heard they had microphones in the casket showrooms in those days to eavesdrop on customers, was it true? Ever see the movie "The Loved Ones"?

I laughed my ass of at "The Loved One" it actually had some fairly well known actors taking part in it for that period of time(1965) Oh, it had it's share of just fantasy or urban myth, but I thought it was a pretty cool movie at the time. This movie actually gets it start from a screenplay from 1948. It had a lot of the major stars of Hollywood for that time and place. Paul Williams, Rod Steiger, Milton Berle, Jonathon Winters, James Coburn, Dana Andrews, Sir John Gielgud, Roddy McDowall, Tab Hunter, Bernie Koppel, and we certainly can't forget, the one and only Liberace, along with Robert Morse as the supposedly lead role. Some of the filming was actually done at Forrest Lawn Memorial Park. There were a few scenes that just did not match up with an embalming scenario. Like when the girl Aimee Thanatogenos, played by Anjanette Comer, had a major crush on Robert Morse's character, and she got so distressed that she supposedly embalmed herself. The deal about her embalming herself while still alive is all but total horseshit. In those scenes, it showed her having an embalming pump going along with a drainage pump hose being used from another embalming pump. There is NO suction pump, once the appropriate artery and vein are raised and opened, the only thing that actually has any type of pressure build-up is the arterial pump, and as it is forcing embalming fluid into the arteries, it is also forcing the blood to drain from the veins. Hopefully some of this is actually making sense. Cabriolet. |

Liberace, Jonathon Winters and Tab Hunter in the same film? My mind reels... I just remember a few parts from seeing it on network TV as a kid, I do remember the girl who embalms herself. You worked in funerals during the height of the Vietnam War. Did you get any dead GIs from Vietnam? |

For me, Porcelain dolls. But on here, since i've never seen a real dead body I'd assume the stench, but in pictures it would have to be the ones where flesh is torn of or burned to the bone on faces where the mouth or eyes are. Just so creepy to see the jaws and eye sickets like that.. yuck!
