Waxy Feel
Adipocere is a decomposition process seen with immersions or damp, warm environments. The neutral fats are converted to oleic, palmitic, and stearic acids. Note the white/tan-colored adipocere, which has a waxy feel. In some areas you can see a light sheen of oil on the surface. Once formed, adipocere is resistant to further decomposition. click pic to view larger image |
