Velupillai Prabhakaran, Tamil Tigers Leader, Killed in Sri Lanka, May 2009
Tamil Tigers (LTTE) founder and leader Velupillai Prabhakaran was killed at the Nandikadal lagoon in Mullaitivu district on May 19, 2009, during the final hours of the Sri Lankan civil war. The army said he was killed in a firefight while fighters attempted to cross the lagoon, and state television showed his body that afternoon. Although the LTTE denied he had died for several days, it acknowledged his death on May 24. The circumstances remain disputed. Military intelligence sources were cited in reports saying he had been captured before being shot, an account denied by the army command. An earlier official claim that he was killed by a rocket strike on a fleeing ambulance was later withdrawn. The army cremated his body on May 23 and scattered his ashes at sea. His 24 year old son Charles Anthony was killed a day earlier. Photographs leaked in 2013 show his 12 year old son Balachandran alive in army custody, then dead from five gunshot wounds to the chest. |

Re: Velupillai Prabhakaran, Tamil Tigers Leader, Killed in Sri Lanka, May 2009
i wonder if he was shot in his birthday suit, coz in the 1st pic his eyes are almost closed and he's bare chested, but further on he's in uniform with his pants open and eyes open to, as though he's been dressed in his military gear to make it look like he was killed in action, and not in his pit. |
