Another thing to remember is that Soleimani organized an attack on the US Embassy in Iraq. Attacking an embassy is act of war. Not only did he do what he did, he did it in soil that was foreign to him as well, and then bragged about it in social media. Furthermore, Iran declared war on the US in 1979, so as a military leader, he's basically a combatant, especially if he shows his face in a contested territory while organizing/conducting hostile action. Time will tell if killing him was wise, but there was plenty of justification to blow him out of his shoes. |
