That makes absolutely no sense. This guy was a terrorist, regardless of what position he was granted by the ayatollahs. He was behind the killing and crippling of hundreds, if not thousands of people. Many of them were Americans. He was in Iraq to plan more attacks.
Having an official title in front of his name did not make him untouchable.
