Uber Driver Hauls Her Last Fare

29yo Uber driver in Brazil left late Saturday/early Sunday morning to take a passenger on a 70km trip. Her mother, with whom she left her young son, advised her to refuse the fare, as it was too far to drive in the middle of the night.

Apparently, she should have listened. The police found her car 20 hours later, about 270km away from its intended destination. Her body was stuffed into the back seat, clearly (according to the authorities) killed by ligature strangulation. A metal wire garrote was still wrapped around her throat.

The front seat was heavily charred, so the police believe that the murderer(s) tried to destroy the evidence by burning the car but couldn't get the fire to take. Her body was not burned and, aside from being strangled to death, exhibited only a small wound on her head, likely obtained during the struggle.

Police have stated that they believe it to have been a premeditated murder and that the caller arranged the ride specifically to commit the crime. They are currently investigating and the Uber company has issued its condolences to the young woman's family.
