In another Facebook post, Williams’ sister, Kaylee Sweet, wrote, ““Tyler was such a beautiful, sweet, easy going, genuine person. He was my best friend, truly. We shouldn’t have to know this pain, I hate what my sister has left me with. Sweet said she is “confused and angry.”
Sweet wrote, “I appreciate the kind words from everyone, unfortunately I don’t believe there is anything that can be done or said to help with this horrible, horrible tragedy.” She added, “I don’t think she can even comprehend what she’s done! This was a senseless act & even after finding him like that she tried convincing me that he was okay! I don’t know what comes next but I hope peace will be the answer.”

He was really making a comment specifically about one of our more egregiously racist and outspoken site members here. Not so much about racial issues in general. We have several members who have a long-standing history of blaming race every time there's a black-on-black crime depicted on this site. He was merely mentioning that those same people are oddly silent in the face of this homicide.

I'm afraid it was you who failed. Maybe next time.

Yea, I have been here and on the internet in general for a little while. I see the kind of posts some idiots make. It is all boring stupidity and I saw nobody being stupid in this thread yet. It is generally best to not indulge the ignorant anyway and I feel most regular people who can think know those specific people you may be talking about say that stuff because they are stupid or they are trying to get a reaction, which is utterly mundane.

To me it just feeds the fire to make comments like omega did, it contributes little to any conversation and it may just invite trolling or make things worse, so I consider his racial commentary attempt a failure for its content and insight, which left much to be desired. Also, I encourage him to not give up on his intellectual journey and maybe next time his comment will have some real value or humor.

He could have presented a better argument, yes. Or a funnier one or whatever. I'm not disputing that.

But I've seen what happens when you let the alt-right racists run rampant on sites like this. You wind up with a shit-infested, half-assed nazi clownshow like ******. The site owner and the site as a whole have a strong disposition against racism in any form, but we typically only hard-police it when it is overwhelmingly blatant.

I feel that in today's climate, especially in an environment like this one, ignoring it and allowing it to go unchecked is tacitly permissive and serves as a de facto endorsement of the conduct. So I am often inclined to demur when a user chooses to call out an egregious racist for his incessant racist monologues.

But you aren't wrong that it could have been better presented, or at least given more appropriate context.
