Re: Two Police Officers Killed by High Powered Rifle

Thanks for the correction I meant 7.62 by 51. The shell casings look like a semi auto was being fired while walking forward or straight back. Your looking at an FAL or M1A1. Its not a Russian round, these are rimless. I don't think its an exotic round but one thing I thought of was a BAR. Just not enough clarity to tell.
I would also put money on the FAL, seeing as they were passed around South America freely for like 30 years. I don't think it is an M1a cause i haven't seen many down there, being semi auto only i assume. The BAR is also a good guess since the mexicans got plenty of ww2 weapons and equipment from us, but I don't know how much 30.06 ammo is avalible down there. The fact is that this is not a 50 cal and it isn't a hint above 30 cal.

Re: Two Police Officers Killed by High Powered Rifle

Well, not really. The .50 caliber Browning machine gun round is 1/2 inch in diameter (50/100 of an inch). A 50mm as quoted in this article would be an artillery piece with a round having a diameter of two inches. An AK-47 fires a .30 caliber bullet, so it is about 20/100 of an inch smaller than the .50 cal.

That being said, there is virtually no structure behind which you are safe from the mighty .50 BMG round.

Re: Two Police Officers Killed by High Powered Rifle

The new Barret 416 is supposed to out shoot the 50. Haven't had the op yet but I'll get a chance and give a comparison.
Yes it is absolutely wonderful!
