I would also put money on the FAL, seeing as they were passed around South America freely for like 30 years. I don't think it is an M1a cause i haven't seen many down there, being semi auto only i assume. The BAR is also a good guess since the mexicans got plenty of ww2 weapons and equipment from us, but I don't know how much 30.06 ammo is avalible down there. The fact is that this is not a 50 cal and it isn't a hint above 30 cal.

Well, not really. The .50 caliber Browning machine gun round is 1/2 inch in diameter (50/100 of an inch). A 50mm as quoted in this article would be an artillery piece with a round having a diameter of two inches. An AK-47 fires a .30 caliber bullet, so it is about 20/100 of an inch smaller than the .50 cal. That being said, there is virtually no structure behind which you are safe from the mighty .50 BMG round. |
