Re: Two Police Officers Killed by High Powered Rifle

The shells are 7.62x51. Having shot the Barrett and the M40a3 7.62x51 myself at real bad guys, and seen the damage they both do to a human head, I can assure you this man was shot either with a 7.62 or really high up on the head. 50 would simply remove the head and some of the torso. Also the 1st cop would have had a major cavity in his chest, the round would have visibly shredded his vest.

Re: Two Police Officers Killed by High Powered Rifle

Damn a person would have to be pretty important with the way those rounds cost. I would be having second thoughts....

I am unable to zoom in on the pics. Did you see any markings? The only thing that made me think it was still a large round was comparing the guys shoe in the second one. They look like .338 lapua rounds at length. I also agree that the guy was not killed with a .50..... And as far as the source 50mm cal bullets ? lol

if you compare the casings to the guys shoes, youll see they are pretty large. a 7.62 warsaw will go through you, a 50bmg will take most of you with the bullets wake. there arent enough shells around to suggest anything used had more than a 10 round magazine.

They might be .338, but i don't know of any weapons that fire .338 that are not bolt guns or specialty sniper weapons. Either way .338 is not capable of full auto or sustained semi auto fire. Thats why i guessed it was 7.62x51, Plus the one dude's head just looks like it was hit with the nato round.

Good point I didn't think of rate of fire. What about a FAL they are used in a lot of places and relatively available? I hope we are not missing pics for this... I am guessing the guy with the head trauma was maybe thrown in the back of the truck? Idk how he could end in that position. Sorry for asking for a million questions ... this is what I love.

Thanks for the correction I meant 7.62 by 51. The shell casings look like a semi auto was being fired while walking forward or straight back. Your looking at an FAL or M1A1. Its not a Russian round, these are rimless. I don't think its an exotic round but one thing I thought of was a BAR. Just not enough clarity to tell.
