Two Men Dead After Car Hits Bridge Pillar
Police release details of A50 bridge crash that killed two Officers are asking anyone who saw the incident or who may have dash cam footage of it to come forward and help with the investigation 17 APR, 2023- Police have released further details about the A50 bridge crash which killed two people at the weekend. Officers have also asked anyone who saw the incident or who may have dash cam footage of it to come forward and help with the investigation. The incident was on the eastbound side of the carriageway, between Toyota Island and Chellaston. It occurred shortly after 10am on Sunday (April 16). Two men were travelling in a Bentley Bentayga when it left the carriageway and struck a bridge pillar. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. Derbyshire Police said in a statement: "Officers investigating a fatal collision on the A50 are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage. The collision occurred on the eastbound side of the carriageway between Toyota Island and Chellaston at around 10.15am on Sunday 16 April. "Two men, who were in a Bentley Bentayga which left the carriageway and struck a bridge pillar, were pronounced dead at the scene. Investigations are ongoing and officers would like to speak to anyone who saw the collision or who has dashcam footage. "We are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a black BMW which was travelling behind the Bentley just before the collision as they may have information which could help with our investigation. They really bent that Bentley! I know that stretch of road well; between those points mentioned there are a couple of wide reverse curves. It is fairly easy to exceed the posted speed limit (70mph) there, I'd hazard a guess that they were travelling at twice that speed. UK gore is pretty rare (from what I've seen), but to have an incident that happened less than a mile from me is exceptional. Great find, Godrekr. Thanks. |

Well, they were cushioned in that Bentley Woolton Pile Carpeting, and the leather upholstery that comes from cows that are fed butter and cream and given massages daily, and the wood that is match-grained and laminated for beauty. Not to mention the 30 coats of hand-rubbed paintwork. I'm sure they thought, as their heads were bouncing off the wonderful interior: "Oh, my, what a positively elegant death I'm having!"  |
