Depends if the victim was alive or it was post mortem. If disintegrated alive it's probably a "don't fuck with us" murder or warning to potential enemies not to double cross them (Tijuana cartel, I'm still assuming this happened in Mexico).

If disintegrated after death, I'm not sure. It's not really as frightening if it takes place after the person is already dead. Now, disintegrated alive, that's some nasty shit.

yes .. if i remember good days ago the police caught a guy and confessed that he made ~pozole~ of 600 bodys +- and he said something were burned alive

That's some really good Mexican stew, a friend of mine made it at work... although I'm pretty sure he used pork shoulder and chicken broth instead of human body and acid.
