Re: There Is No God

Negative. The onus of proof is on those contending the existence of something invisible and ethereal, not on those questioning or denying its existence.
I could insist there's an irritated hippo in my room scratching its ass on the door frame, and it would be my burden to prove - an impossibility, I might add - that there's something there aside from an empty doorway.
Person A: I believe God exist.
Person B: Prove it.
Person A: Disprove it.

Neither side is wrong or right since nothing can be proven or dis-proven.
Person A believes god exist. Person B believes god does not exist.

Saying god exist or does not exist hold the same weight (that's what i meant when i said they're the same thing). There is no point in debating the existence of god.

Re: There Is No God

It is utterly stupid to say that God doesn't exist just because the poor woman ended up looking the way she did. As hard as it may be for you to grasp, THERE IS A GOD..and the day will come when even you will find that out.
Ahem . . It's utterly stupid for you to say there is a god!

You guys want and want and want to read Ideas and Ideas, come on? Once you are born the brain starts developing automatically and it takes years to adjust to the souroundings that each individual is born from...The simple answer to this is...YOU ARE BORN THEN YEARS LATER YOU DIE..PERIOD..There is no memory and you are not going to remember anything once you die.

Re: There Is No God

But to end this discussion, i'll say this.

"The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence"

Just because you can't see something is not proof that it does not exist. Maybe there is a god, maybe there isn't. To say there isn't a god is the same as saying there is a god.
I never said there isn't a God, I said that if someone wants to assert that there is one there must be proof... even if it is just what proves it to yourself then you should share it... sadly I have had many discussions on this topic with theists of various religions and it always reaches a wall when they cannot offer a single piece of evidence... which god do you believe in and why?

I suspect you are correct... but there is maybe a 1% chance so I will hear them out just incase they have some sort of proof... and if they make themselves look foolish for our amusement then where is the harm??

I also can't disprove the existence of unicorns or fairies or banjidoogles or wotshmicallits, but it's absurd to say someone who believes in things one can't see, touch, smell, hear, or taste has the same credibility as someone who believes in only tangible things. One is a realist, the other not.

That has to be the most retarded video i have ever seen and this is coming from an atheist. If someone tells me there's a magical unicorn that comes and sings to them at night and they're the only one who can see it, I'm not going to believe what they are saying true, but I'm not going to say it does not exist because to them it does exist. I could tell them my perception and the perception of others then let them evaluate rather or not they want to continue to believe in w/e they believe in but it is not my place to tell people what exist or does not exist.

Once again

The fact that you see people who you consider to be ignorant to reality going through life blissfully to some degree because of their belief in an afterlife bothers you. Or

You have done bad things in your life so you fear re-precaution, you feel a sense of comfort when you tell yourself you will never be judged for the wrong things you have done or going to do. You might also be deciding on rather you want to be a good or bad person. Being bad is easy and tempting while being good takes effort and not immediately as rewarding unless you believe your good deeds will be rewarded in the afterlife.
