Re: Thank You for Riding with MTA, New York City Transit
death by subway happens a lot here, most times you don't hear about them...some jumpers, some victims of a crime (i.e. being pushed in front of train), some people drop things on the track, not realizing how far down the track actually is and can't make it back up in time. The NYC subways are a disastrously wonderful place. I've seen a lot living here, I even remember my first "man under" guy committed suicide by jumping in front of an incoming Manhattan bound "L" train at 1st Avenue and 14th Street. I respond to these jobs when they are within my jurisdiction out of curiosity. This particular guy wasn't dead long, but while they were removing passengers from the train involved, to a "rescue" train the man was left frying on the third rail. The discoloration in his leg is bruising from the trauma. His clothes were removed by the Medical Examiner in order to assess the damage. However, in some cases the clothes are ripped off by the force of the train. Common Sense is not so common in NYC, you wouldn't believe the amount of man unders and space cases (people caught between the platform and the train)... I promise to post more... |
