A friend of mine is studying Japanese (started last week) just because of that!
It's so lame. The Japanese in that time period were really sick, what they did to POW and everything..
I really hate "grave of the fireflies" because of that,I hate bullshit propaganda.
When you say japan and WW2, people say
*cry cry* grave of the fireflies! *cry cry*.

I like Grave of the Fireflies, but then again I don't look at it in terms of 'those poor japanese' but more in terms of a good example of what so many nations have earned their own citizens by going to war with greed for power and resources as the only motivation...

Yes all these shots are straight out of the book "Rape of Nanking" by Iris Chang. The Japanese culture of training by abuse & humiliation saw their soldiers become animals in the face of surrender. That they visited their frustration on the civilians is reprehensible, yet, while the Nazi leaders were prosecuted virtually none of the Nip' commanders have ever faced justice.
