Teenage Couple Shot Off a Motorcycle
Very early morning today this young couple (she was 13 years old and he was 16) was shot off a motorcycle in Rio Grande del Norte, Brazil. I don't write their motorcycle, because it wasn't - they had stolen it. And it wasn't the first time for him at least. Both in February and March this year he had been arrested for stealing motorcycles together with his 18 years old girlfriend. At first the police thought that the girl was her, but it was later today clear that it wasn't. Why he drove with another girl isn't known. The young girl was hit by four rounds in the back and fell off the motorcycle dead. The boy was hit twice also in the back, but managed to continue 300 meters or so, until he hit a tree and fell to the ground - he died on the spot, but it is not clear if it was the shots alone or helped by the impact when he fell off the motorcycle. This post is heavily edited. I have to thank Akyan, who saw what neither the Brazilian police nor I did see, that it simply didn't look like the same girl. And also thanks to Vedderman, who found the new alive image. The different blogs are changing their articles and images now, and after this mess I will of course keep an eye open an edit again if necessesary. Death, and its various effects on the human body, can alter one's physical attributes substantially. Muscles slacken or tighten, internal damage and organ shifting can cause odd distributions of weight, etc. I've seen plenty of dead people who looked drastically different from antemortem images that were only a few hours old.  It happens. I am also assuming that some of the arrest images are older than the past few months, as she does not yet have the leg tattoo in them. Her name was an extremely common one, so it is always possible that the news sources mort cited here screwed up and put up the photos of a different thief with the same name. That has happened before, albeit rarely. Edit: In this case, as Mort has reflected in his post, the source sites (several of them) were indeed incorrect. Wrong girl. |
