Apparently, Odalis spent the day with some friends, as well as her boyfriend, Juan Camacho. Juan said that he + Odalis spent the day in an abandoned house + consumed drugs. He said that she was depressed because her mother had thrown her out of her house + that she spent time selling candy to get money to buy drugs. They returned to where Juan Camacho lives with his mother.Odalis returned home but did not have money for a taxi. The testimony from Rafael Hernández Márquez, verified the above. |

What a nice name as an aside. Never come across odalys before. I think it was suicide. She was pissed right off. Nothing going right for her so she got her laces and did a slow choke. Felt her weight with the laces holding the bars and bit by bit tested what it was like. Feeling the pressure build in her head and getting light headed until she found the point at which she knew she could cross. Probably backed off a few times and then went for it resolute that this time she wasnt going to give in to instinct and back off. She finally lost her grip after falling unconcious and her dead weight did the rest. Weve all seen hanging videos and how they wiggle for a bit. Go purple in the head and then that subsides and then nothing. Its over. But not for the loved ones left behind.

I had not updated this thread because there's been no new official news since the last week of March. The police have concluded the case and reached their official result, but it is not being publicly shared, only with the family. The family can share it at their discretion. But two weeks later, no news has been shared and no new rallies or marches (there had previously been several) have been scheduled, so my gut feeling is that the family was satisfied with the suicide verdict. For multiple reasons, I am inclined to agree. The boyfriend and several other friends testified that she was fucked up on a lot of pills and had spent the afternoon of her death smoking ditchweed and chewing prescription pain meds. They did tox screens on her blood, but the results were not reported publicly. No urine test was done because they couldn't get a 'usable sample', likely because it all wound up in her pants, based on the photos. Not that drugs=suicide, of course. But it helps establish a mindset anyway. |
