Re: Student Jumps From 12th Floor to the Street Below
What rape!??!?! You're the second person to mention that. But it never happened. This girl was not raped and she never mentioned being raped. Her suicide note was complaining about the culture of victim-blaming that is endemic in India. She was disappointed and horrified that her own mother supported the culture of victim-blaming for rapes, but at no point in time did she ever state or even intimate that she had been raped herself. They were having a philosophical discussion about the issue, which was clearly an important one to the decedent. But her mother's patriarchal attitude about the subject caused the girl to lose faith in her, which was jarring. Come on, folks. I know the translation sucks, but learn to read within context! |

Re: Student Jumps From 12th Floor to the Street Below
The only mention of rape is this: "to my mother, victims should be blamed for rape was the end talk for me, i want you to know that it was the most shameful thing you've ever said to me, and hearing that from you, i knew this was it."
