I don't feel sorry for them, as bad as that sounds. I purchased a property where thieves kept constantly breaking in and stealing the copper wire (and anything else they could get their hands on). It cost me a small fortune to renovate that property thanks to all the theft. A guard dog and police driving by the property numerous times helped end the theft as I became smarter about trying to stop it. :P
