The Soweto pastime of Train Surfing - known locally as Staff Riding.

Staff Riding has been practiced since the 1950's, but today trains are electrified and move a lot faster than their older counterparts. The young men who have mastered this dangerous sport put their lives at stake. Death defying stunts with names like "Viva La Raza", "The Matrix" and "Spiderman" can result in serious injury or death if mistimed.

The authorities responded to the crisis by employing special security guards on trains and using awareness programmes to try and dissuade potential train surfers. This resulted in a drastic decline in deaths.

That's so cool. Why can't the USA come up with something to cull out our problem children. Drive by shootings and drunken car wreaks are way too slow and kill far too few idiots to be effective. Here in the USA the damn trial lawyers would sue the railroad for having dangerous trains that give idiots the opportunity the to do stupid things that get them killed, maimed, and injured. Now days one is required to be responsible for their own actions.
