These images were not disclosed to the press as a matter of ethics and to not scare away the tourists. This shark attack happened on 01/06/08 at Piedade beach, last Sunday. The victim is in critical condition in HR. This photo was taken by military fire brigade who made the rescue. Alert the public: Be careful when entering the sea in this period from June to September is when they have the highest incidence of attacks. .  · |

Actually, this happened on June 1, 2008 and the victim was Wellington dos Santos, 14, who had his right hand completely severed and suffered large bite wounds to his buttocks from a shark attack while swimming beyond the coral reef about 150 metres off the beach at Piedade, near the Pernambuco state capital Recife. btw, great pic!  |
