I don’t think the point was to make him out to be gay so no one cares. I think the point of the comment was he looked gay, Russia does not like gay people. Kind of like if you found a dead person in Germany in 1932 and said they look like a Jew. It’s not saying no one cares and they were not human. He is saying suicide was probably better than what Adolf had planed.
