Recent Brazilian Deaths Compilation, Vol. 5
In Erechim, Rio Grande do Sul, a 52-year-old woman, Elenir F.M., was run over by a trailer whilst crossing the BR-153 highway. She was a cook at a restaurant, and was going to work when she was fatally run over. Apparently, there was an electronic speed bump near the scene of the accident that had been deactivated a few days prior after the city's contract with the company providing the service expired. In Manaus, Amazonas, 24-year-old Vinícius F.d.S., who had recently been released from prison, was shot more than twenty times. Vinícius, who had a criminal record for drug trafficking and possessing a firearm, had been accompanied by a "friend", who took him to the alley where the killers were waiting for him. In São José de Ribamar, Maranhão, the body of a drowned woman was found to have washed ashore. [Note: I originally typed up that this happened in Rio de Janeiro, where my source claimed it happened, but this appears to have been false information.] In Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, an unidentified man died after being run over by a vehicle transport truck. In Acopiara, Ceará, a man, Robson F.C., shot himself at the grave of his two-year-old daughter, who had just been buried. The daughter, Sophia, had suffered from flu-like symptoms, and was rushed to hospital when she choked on an accumulation of mucus. She died from cardiac arrest whilst at hospital. In Moreno, Pernambuco, a man, identified only as George, was shot dead on the terrace of a residence. |

Video of the drowned woman. Around eight kilometres away, the body of the woman's sister also washed ashore. The sisters were identified as 36-year-old Sônia and 30-year-old Izaneide d.S., and police now believe the deaths were murder. In December 2023, Izaneide was arrested for stealing cell phones and jewellery, and for illegally possessing three firearms and ammunition. |
