Russia: IS-linked Terror Suspects «neutralised» in Karachay-Cherkess
Five militants linked to the so-called Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) were neutralised by Federal Security Services and the Russian National Guard in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic on Monday, while the suspects were in the midst of 'planning to commit terrorist outrages in densely populated areas'. The National Counter-Terrorism Committee's gathered information of an imminent attack, before security forces were deployed and engaged the suspects at a dilapidated building in Stanitsya Zelenchukskaya with weapons, taking out the gang's leader in the process. The National Counter-Terrorism Committee's information center representative Alexander Polyakov said: «It's known that the gang members pledged loyalty to international terrorism organization ISIL (the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant) and were planning to commit terrorist outrages in densely populated areas». «In order to prevent committing acts of terrorism and provide security of the citizens, the head of Russia's Federal Security Service in Karachaevo-Cherkessia adopted a decision for conducting the counter-terrorism operation from 9:30 am and enacting the relevant legal regime within the area,» he added. https://www.newstube.ru/media/russia...achay-cherkess  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  · |

I wonder if these are the guys the CIA tipped off Russia to. They were going to attack St. Petersburg. Putin thanked the US for the intel.
