For a week, 37 year old Rosangela Almeida dos Santos had been at the Hospital de Oeste in Barreiras, Bahia. She had been taken there as she was suffering with severe fatigue. Apparently, she had suffered from fainting spells since the age of 7 + took anti-convulsant medicines. On 28th January this year, Rosangela was declared dead from septic shock after having 2 cardiac arrests. She was buried the next day in the Senhora Santana cemetery in Riachao das Neves, northeast Brazil.

On 9th February, 11 days after her burial, there were screams, groans + banging heard coming from her grave. Local men took out the coffin + removed the lid. Rosangela's body was warm.

Apparently, her body had turned around, the cotton wool that had been in her ears + nostrils had been removed + she had injuries on her hands + forehead that were not there when she was buried. The nails in the coffin lid had been pushed upwards + scratches + blood were found on the underside.
