Dismembered Man Found in Autazes, Amazonas, Brazil, February 23, 2018
Vitor da Silva Barbosa, 21, was found dismembered near an inn on Rua Jonas Pinho in the Cidade Nova neighborhood of Autazes, Amazonas, Brazil, at about 4:30 a.m. on February 23, 2018. Civil Police said the remains had been dumped at the site, but investigators believed he had been killed elsewhere. The location of the killing was not established, and the number of recovered body parts and the identity of whoever found them remain unknown. Police had not identified any suspects at the time of the initial investigation. Relatives said Barbosa had debts connected to local drug trafficking, but that was a family assertion and not a police finding. Police also said he had prior records for theft.
