Re: Rolex Store Robbery
Being a Horologist I can tell you that many many people wear imitation Rolex's Tag's Omega's Tudors etc, we have them brought in on a daily basis, the Chinese are getting so good at copying that only the most astute eye can pick the fake. With Omega we had one in a couple of weeks ago, this guy had paid $6500 for it, as it turns out it was a copy and as a stroke of luck we had a genuine one in for repair identical in every way except for the two rivet marks on the dial that pin the dial to the movement, we had spotted that already, we opened the case and even the movement was an ETA, Omega supply some of their movements from ETA in Switzerland, the caliber was different, but nonetheless it was a genuine ETA movement. The copy was worth $50.00 The case was a drop dead copy that not even dad or I could pick, they were the exact same weight and looked identical only the eye glass picked up the riveted dial, had it been an old watch we would have assumed it had been very well re-pinned something that is common even in high end watches. Be careful what you buy, the ipad was released two weeks before the genuine Apple item....true story. |
