Robert Kubica F1 Crash Photos, Canadian Grand Prix, June 10, 2007
At Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal on June 10, 2007, Robert Kubica crashed in the 2007 Canadian Grand Prix. His BMW Sauber clipped the rear of Jarno Trulli's Toyota while approaching the hairpin at about 180 mph, then left the ground over a bump in the grass and hit a concrete wall at about 143 mph. It registered a peak deceleration of roughly 75 g before barrel-rolling across the track. Kubica suffered a slight concussion and sprained ankle. The FIA ruled him out of the following United States Grand Prix, where 19-year-old Sebastian Vettel made his Formula 1 debut as his replacement. Kubica returned for the next race in France. The accident remains cited as a benchmark case for modern Formula 1 safety standards. |
