Robert Kubica F1 Crash Photos, Canadian Grand Prix, June 10, 2007
These photographs show Robert Kubica's crash during the 2007 Canadian Grand Prix at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal on June 10, 2007. Kubica's BMW Sauber touched the back of Jarno Trulli's Toyota on the approach to the hairpin at about 180 mph, was launched off a bump on the grass and struck the concrete wall at about 143 mph, recording a peak deceleration of roughly 75 g before barrel-rolling back across the track. He survived with a slight concussion and a sprained ankle. The FIA barred him from the following United States Grand Prix, where 19-year-old Sebastian Vettel made his Formula 1 debut as his stand-in; Kubica was back in the car for the next race in France. The crash is still cited as a benchmark case for modern Formula 1 safety standards. |
