1. In Aracaju, Sergipe, the charred body of a man, with his hands tied, was found. One of his legs had been severed, and a rope was tied around his neck.

The corpse was identified as that of criminal André Oliveira Santos, nicknamed 'Baleado' ('Shot'), who had been released on parole from a prison in the neighbouring state of Bahia.
