Recent Brazilian Deaths Compilation, Vol. 9
1. In Aracaju, Sergipe, the charred body of a man, with his hands tied, was found. One of his legs had been severed, and a rope was tied around his neck. The corpse was identified as that of criminal André Oliveira Santos, nicknamed 'Baleado' ('Shot'), who had been released on parole from a prison in the neighbouring state of Bahia. André, who had a history of robbery, had been sentenced for embezzlement relating to the sale of his ex-wife's house. 2. In Arraial d'Ajuda, Bahia, the body of a man, presenting "signs of extreme violence", was found at a banana plantation. The man's eyes had been gouged out, and his head had been repeatedly shot at. However, no shell casings were found at the scene, suggesting a dump job. 3. In Eunápolis, Bahia, the head of 22-year-old Eduarda R.d.S. was found inside a garbage bag on a street. She had been kidnapped from her house hours beforehand. Along with the head, the criminals left a note allegedly signed by the Comando Vermelho (CV), claiming that the young woman was executed for having joined the rival gang Bonde do Maluco (BDM). The note also contained threats to residents. According to investigators, Eduarda had lived for years in the Juca Rosa neighbourhood, dominated by the CV, but had recently moved to Itapuã, an area of influence for the BDM. Police are investigating whether this move was interpreted as a breach of loyalty. 4. In Mossoró, Rio Grande do Norte, two men - 35-year-old fugitive Kaio C.A.V., and a man identified only as 'Mardoni' - were sleeping when armed criminals broke down the door, invaded the property, and fired several shots from a 12-gauge shotgun. Both men were killed. 5. In Garanhuns, Pernambuco, 45-year-old Luciano B.d.M. was shot dead when two men with high-calibre shotguns broke into his house and opened fire. According to witnesses, the criminals were searching for Luciano's son-in-law and, when they couldn't find him, decided to kill Luciano. Luciano's partner was also at the scene, but she escaped by jumping from a first-floor window. 6. In Pitimbu, Paraíba, an unidentified man was drinking with two young men at his house when, for reasons unknown, he was murdered, with the two men setting fire to his property with his body still inside. Two men were detained by the police. One of them has already been released, while the other remains in custody. 7. In Pintadas, Bahia, two men were shot dead at a municipal market. 8. In Petrolina, Pernambuco, a 28-year-old woman, Taisa d.C.S., was walking on the street when she was approached by two men on a motorcycle, the passenger of which began firing at Taisa. Taisa ran into a nearby supermarket, but was chased and ended up being mortally wounded. Taisa was involved in the drug trade in the region, and she had survived an attempt on her life two months previously. |

Brazil is in a lot of posts with some senseless and some sensible violence. Definitely a country where you need eyes in the back of your head to last any length of time. |

That red hair extension peaking out from the garbage bag looks macabre. |
