This is nothing even close to getting "spanked." They're hurting you. Intense pain is the object of this punishment. The reason they apply it to the buttocks is not merely humiliation; the thick muscles and large skin area can withstand severe traumatic injury without threatening life. As long as they keep infection at bay, they can pretty much hamburgerize your ass without killing you, and you can bet that's gonna hurt.
