to those who said it's better she just died rather than living in that can for 60 years, does she have a choice? it's easy to say that she should have died early, because you guys already tasted a normal life (except for most abnormals here), and she doesn't.. when you know your loved one is going to die and you also know you can do something to extend their life, i'm sure you'll do it.. yes it sucks living in there, can't even fuck or masturbate, but like i said, she doesn't have any options.. good post BTW, i've even researched about it and it's really a heart warming story.. too bad it's not the type of story where in you can create a movie out of it.. it's like the movie 127 hours in a can.. |

Easier said than done by some. Sometimes your not given the choice either. Good luck to you. Remember as you slide that cold steel barrel in to your mouth that last time to aim slightly up towards the tonsills that way you won't fuck up and live through it and become someones burden.  |

Actually they could have placed her on a more modern ventilator. However many of the old polio victims used to chose to stay in the old iron lungs. We had a patient when I worked in the hospital who used to come in for treatment and when she did she came in with her iron lung. |
