He is not "scared of the dead guy".

It's called Situational Awareness.

Looks to me like:


1. Perp incapacitation is being confirmed

2. Perp access to any weapon is being eliminated

3. Cop is on look out for other perp's who may be lurking or return to the scene.

The crime doesn't drop just because police have guns. In fact it increases more deaths on both sides.
