Re: Police Say Asian Student Suicide Due to Unwanted Pregnancy
So sad. I have seen it in other countries where girls would rather kill themselves than have their parents find out. In this case, without being judgmental, the problem might have it's origins in the cultural upbringing of the girl. "Killing themselves for family shame" Common in many parts of the world.

Re: Police Say Asian Student Suicide Due to Unwanted Pregnancy
Looks like the pics are from China. My guess is the opposite of what you guys think. In China, you're only supposed to have one child per household, because of the bloated population there. So she killed herself and the unborn child NOT because she didn't want the child, but rather she wanted the child but didn't want the abortion. She decided that taking her own life was better than being forced to give up on the child. It's sad, but it happens everyday in China. |

Re: Police Say Asian Student Suicide Due to Unwanted Pregnancy
I'm pretty sure my thinking is correct because when you look at the pics closely, you see children's clothings hanging in the room, meaning that she already has at least one child. This leads me to believe that she was being pressured to give up on the unborn child so she killed herself as a rebelious act.

Definitely NOT China - the writing on the body cloth in the last two pics is not Chinese, Japanese or Korean, or any of the related writing styles. I checked some out, and it's either Thai, or Lao script, more likely Lao script (the written language of Laos, which is derived from Khmer script)
