Re: Pictures of Dead & Decaying Bodies Floating in the Ganges River
The Hindus believe that the Ganges is the dead's gateway to Nirvana and bathing in the river washes away their sins. My dad's ship docked somewhere in that area many years ago. The merchants boarded their ship and offered them seafood, which they bought because the crabs and the prawns were huge. When they lifted their anchor, there was a corpse dangling from it. They then realized that the prawns and the crabs must've been eating human remains hence their size! Gross right? They threw everything back into the water!

Re: Pictures of Dead & Decaying Bodies Floating in the Ganges River
In the Ganges river in India, it is traditional to place cremated bodies of the deceased in the river, which is considered holy. However, unclaimed or other bodies are frequently dumped in the river, and float around right next to Hindu holy men (saddhus) and other devotees who bathe in the holy river.
