Re: OK, Try This Again, My Brother Od'd from Bad Heroin
I wouldn't know, I didn't know him. I don't understand what writing ignorant statements towards his family achieves. You think you have your shit figured out so you get a pass to make others feel shitty? People begin drug abuse for all kinds of reasons. Could be as simple as trying to escape some insensitive, judgemental asshole. Oh, she lost her brother. I'll call him a junky and write about the world being better off, then go for a run. |

Re: OK, Try This Again, My Brother Od'd from Bad Heroin
Beautiful young man - I am so sorry this happened. I lost my son to heroin too - he was not an addict, but being stupid with his friend - his friend died the next year. It's epidemic. We lose them in one of three ways. First they simply take too much. Second, they were using stopped, and began again. They use the same dosage they last, but it's now an od for them because they no longer have the tolerance. The heroin is being cut with Fentanyl {even elephant tranquilizer} with the cut, the strength of the heroin increases, and it's an od that kills. All so young, all so dead, and families destroyed. It can happen to anybody, and nobody deserves this.

Yes unfortunately. All backed up by science, maybe try reading some scientific articles? https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1403641 |

I wish you well in your life and that you find the strength to overcome your problems. And no, not going to play that game. |

Re: OK, Try This Again, My Brother Od'd from Bad Heroin
There is a difference between indulging in tobacco, alcohol or even recreational drugs as a means to unwind socially. There are of course, many high functioning people who smoke, drink and do drugs and still find it possible to work and have a great life. Addiction to narcotics however, is an entirely different matter. |

Re: OK, Try This Again, My Brother Od'd from Bad Heroin
Been an emergency room nurse for over thirty years, and I can promise you this, the victims of death from opioids/heroin can happen to anyone - and it is an epidemic. They come in as young as 12 as old as 75. They are educated, no schooling, every color, every sex, police records, high school honor students, street people. and those with families and homes, athletes and educators - It is anybody. If it doesn't kill you with the first hit, you're almost immediately an addict. It is so cheap anyone can buy it or trade it. Young people used to mess around with prescription drugs, oxy, xannie bars, adderall, percocet - but the hammer came down, and the surplus ran dry - and heroin was easy and cheap. Stop judging - it is anybody -and no they are not forced. It's like your first drink, the first pot, the first tab of acid in my time, the first snort of cocaine, the first cigarette - it is a rare young and dumb that doesn't try something. The problem with heroin is the addiction is almost immediate, or the first hit kills you. And it is very hard to get off. Many people try - few succeed. Stop judging.
