Here are some statistics for ya! I used the info gathered in this post, as data for a calculus problem that I had to share with my Calculus class.. The goal was to find her rate of deceleration. She went from 0-100mph, Porsches are pretty fast right? So Let's say that she did this in 5 seconds! 100-0/5 is 20, right? Now convert that to ft/sec, 20(5280)/3600 you get -29.33 ft/sec^2 acceleration due to gravity is -32 ft/sec^2 This is interesting because she nearly hit the brick wall as fast as she would of been falling at a certain height. This is why that impact caused so much damage! She hit that wall at a rate equivalent to nearly someone falling off of a 2-3 story building. There might be a lot of other factors to add, but with this info hopefully it's easier to see why the impact caused the type of damage it did. I found it to be quite weird that someone could survive out of falling from a 2 or 3 story building, but would be destroyed if they crashed into a wall at the same speed as falling.

Actually, the calculations you should be doing is to find the force behind a porsch literally SCRAPING a girl's head across a wall at 100 mph (a much different affect from a straight on impact in a car, or even falling from a certain height) - because that is how she died, not from a direct impact as such, but from having her head get sheared apart as the roof slightly impacted along the side wall of the toll-booth and of course promptly collapsed, given that it was a convertable, leaving her head vulnerable and exposed (this is the reason for the rather unique look of her injuries)- the actual impact proper that stopped the car was after she was already toast (though only by a split second of course) and only affected her in that it made the airbag deploy.

Yea but knowing the acceleration, and the fact that the initial velocity could of been 20mph, you could use that, and compare it to how high a person could be falling from a building. Force would work too but your missing a lot of information, like her mass.

Nope, she was traveling at 100mph all the way up to the moment of final impact (after the fatal one) - that, and the mass of the car itself is about all you need for base info...alas, I'm too medicated at the moment to try to figure it out from there...
