I remember 1973 like yesterday. I was 8 and both my parents worked 50 hours a week to pay the 70% taxes caucasian Americans were paying to support idle, violent and anti-American African Americans who would attack us without provocation in public places like the Chicago Loop. Black on white violence is a daily occurrence in much of the USA. White violence against blacks is as rare as hens teeth in the USA. That's why you hear so much about Emmett Till, they have to go back to the Deep South in 1955 to find it. |

If you read the history of his father, HE went through the same shit as his son did. The father made sergeant 3 months after being drafted. They wanted to promote him to Lieutenant, but during the interview they asked him "What would you do if we promoted you, (a Lieutenant is an OFFICER!) and someone called you "******"? (as if he should have some cheerful answer to that!) He turned the position down, and remained a sergeant. I am SURE he understood the bitterness of his son!  |

Never heard of this either. It's funny the stuff that gets immortalized and culture like Whitman at the University of Texas but stuff like this just Fades into history.

Yeah, you couldn't be more right. Non whites in the states were treated terribly, especially by the police. People have no concept of just how bad it was to be black or hispanic back then. Can't fault this guy for wanting to strike back. As far as innocent people, nobody was innocent in 1973.
