This case has been solved.

Two high school students, 17 and 18 years old, have been arrested for this 21 year old woman's murder. One of them had her missing tennis shoes and her pants in his closet.

Apparently, the three of them went out to a bar together after the girl got out of soccer practice. She had not gone out with them before, so she sent a WA message to a friend of hers letting her know where she was drinking. An hour or so later, she sent another message saying that the guys she was with were nice and treating her well, so she was staying out a bit longer.

At that point, they allegedly took her to another location, to the older boy's house. There they tried to get her into a 3-way, which she resisted. At that point they supposedly raped her and then strangled her. When she went unconscious from the asphyxiation, they thought she was dead and threw her in the back of their car and drove her out to dump her on the road. But after they got her unloaded, she woke up and started struggling again so they smashed her head with a rock and left her dead and naked by the roadside. When the police searched the boy's car, physical evidence was found, though it was not disclosed to me what that was. Her bra and underpants were located at the scene with her body but, as aforementioned, her shoes and outer clothing were found at the older boy's house.

There was a third POI, also 17, but it looks like he was not directly involved in the killing.

That poor girl must have been terrified. If only she had come round after those fuckers had left, she'd still be alive today. Though, she would have to live with what had happened to her. Hope those bastards pay for what they did.
