The Mystery of the Somerton Man

So far, I haven’t seen any images or posts referencing the Tamun Shud case aka the Mystery of the Somerton Man, which is a UID man who was discovered on 6:30 A.M. December 1, 1948 at Somerton beach in Adelaide, South Australia. While the shock value of the images in this post will be like comparing Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to A Serbian Film from some of the much more crazier shit that I have seen in this forum, the haunting factor of the unknown will hopefully grab some interest from some of you in this case. As always, I apologize ahead of time if this ends up as a repost, and I invite anyone to add details or illustrations that I might have missed.
The name, Tamun shud became associated with this case after it was noticed that the phrase was found on a piece of paper torn out from The Rubaiyat in a hidden pocket from the man’s trousers. The phrase itself is a Persian translation for “ended” or “finished.” No identification was found with this man, the cause of death is questionable, and no one has determined whether or not a coded message is embedded on a piece of paper from the book that the torn piece of paper originated from (illustrated below), which to date has not been cracked.
There is a plethora of information on this case, which to document all of it is beyond the scope of a single post and I don’t think anyone wants me to write a thesis which would be more of an eye sore than anything else. So I will list what I think are the most pertinent details and invite anyone to research the more intricate details and speculations.
• Witnesses stated that they observed a someone resembling the UID around 7p.m. on November 30th lying on his back at the same spot the UID was found, fully extending his arm in the upright position, then dropping it limply.
• His dental records did not match anyone from Australia
• A brown suitcase was discovered at the Adelaide Railway Station on January 14, 1949 which was checked into the cloakroom on or about November 30, 1948.
• All the tags on the clothes inside the suitcase were removed except for the name “T. Keane” on a tie. The “Keane” tag was the only tag that would have damaged the clothing if it were removed.
• Features found on the coat in the suitcase indicate that it could only have come from the U.S. and could only be custom fitted, indicating that the man was in the U.S. at one time or purchased it from someone who was in the U.S. at some time.
• It has been speculated that he was poisoned with ouabain and/or digitalis but no evidence of vomiting was found at the scene.
• A copy of the book The Rubaiyat was found in the back of a man’s unlocked car a week before the UID was discovered. The man turned the book over to the authorities once he discovered that the authorities were looking for a copy of the book in the newspaper.
• The book was missing the words “Tamun Shud” on the last page and it was determined that the piece of paper found on the UID matched that from the missing piece of paper from the book that was turned into the authorities.
• In the back of the book, faint pencil markings had this grouping of capitalized letters:

Thanks Susan, I actually obtained the majority of the information from Wiki on this case, save for a few of the autopsy photos. I thought about posting the link to the website but wasn't sure if posting links was frowned upon in the forum. I will start adding links whenever necessary going forward. Yeah, this is a mysterious case for sure. Cases that somehow manage to hold onto their mystery across decades of investigation, are always intriguing. Thanks for posting it tootsieflowrslave.

Has anyone here ever heard about the case from Brazil, I believe, where 2 men were found dead on top of a hill. They were both wearing like lead mask and suits or something along those lines. They had writings on them that were something like instructions telling them to be there on the hill at a certain time. Then take some kind of pill or capsule at a certain time, then after that put the lead mask on at a certain time. I don't think they ever learned what the cause of death actually was but for some reason bits and pieces of that case stuck in my mind over the years. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Perhaps you heard of it tootsie?

As a matter of fact, I have heard of that case although my understanding of it is limited at best. I believe it has been coined "Lead Masks Case" and the incident occurred sometime in 1966. The problem I had with researching it was being unable to find reliable sources of information, but now my curiosity has been tweaked, so maybe I will give it another round.
