Re: My Mom
I'm sorry to hear for your loss and it's brave of you to post it in this forum. There is a quote i remember and i think it's relevant you know about it, but i forgot exactly how it goes but went something along the line of There is an evil force that is taking over your loved ones and everyone you love, but neither me nor you have any power to control it, it isn't just specific to alcoholism but the modern way of life in general. p.s did you label her photos in an album called hell on earth? |

Re: My Mom
If you ask a mod, they can remove the images + place the watermarked one in it's place.

Re: My Mom
Hi MacabreMarie. Thank you for posting this thread. You're very courageous to do so. This site has some very understanding people but also a share of trolls or otherwise miserable folks who pride in their "sarcastic" and "ironic" ways of communicating. Yeah, I tend to laugh at death too but want still retain a sense of self-awareness. There's a time and place for laughing at things, and there's a time and place for being serious. Yeah, I have the tendency to state the obvious As for your mother's alcohol problem: please never blame yourself for it. As a former problem drinker I know how tight the grip of a drink can be and at that point you really don't see any other reason for continuing on life. Getting drunk kinda becomes the lifeline for you. But you're absolutely entitled to feel any emotion you might feel. Be it rage, anger, resentment, grief, whatever you may be feeling. Feel it! Don't listen to the bullshit that we should just forgive and be understanding. Your emotions matter and you're "entitled" to feel them. It's the only path to healing. Sending e-hugs to you! Yes, even on Documenting Reality I allow myself to hug people |

Re: My Mom
She obviously made the right call. Why would you want this for all the world? For other sites to easily copy and plaster everywhere? Your mom most DEFINATELY made the right decision by your current actions. Disgusting of you to do this to the woman that gave you life. And I hope she had plenty plus YEARS living with true love, no matter if the man she fell in love with was 'your' age... it's not about 'you.' That poor woman. I wish someone in your family would put you straight as to why this isn't cool. In the meantime... |

Re: My Mom
For those berating the poster for sharing such a photo, it really isn't up to anyone else to decide whether it was the right thing to do. She clearly didn't have a close loving relationship with her mother (+ myself being very anti-alcohol, can completely understand). If this helps her to come to terms with the death, then who are we to say that it's wrong? However, as I stated earlier, she really should have watermarked the photo as other sites will take it + claim as their own findings, despite this one being a very personal 'exclusive'. Also, taking away any relation to the deceased, posting the image isn't really any different than the thousands of photos we already have on the site - to all but 1 person here, it's just another dead person.

Re: My Mom
i have /had problem drinkers in my family too (quite bad) but i didn't realise the drive behind doing it, do you know whether it is to block away bad past memories or is it due to boredom with life?
