Re: Must Be Itchy Down There
the tube is a foley cath, it goes into the bladder, it has a small balloon at the tip you inflat with saline so the cath stays in (these are also called indwelling caths, ones with out the balloon are in and out caths ) the wounds probably started as pressure ulcers (bed sores) or a yeast infection, which heavy people get in skin folds, you can see it ate away the right labia, the urethra is deviated to the left (where the cath goes in). either she was in a really, really bad nursing home, or a home since the wounds were not debrided and filthy, wounds like that need to be surgically cleansed by cutting all the necortic tissue away. last time I saw a bed sore that bad I was a new grad, poor guy had them on both hips down to the bone. she had no treatment, I doubt she even got a bed bath once a month, what a agonizing way to go, the pain, the smell, not able to move. of course, I have had large patients that refuse to be turned, to get out of bed, or bath. I hope to hell someone gets busted for her neglect
